History

The Victoria Park Hotel, located in the heart of Victoria Park on Albany Highway, has been a part of the Albany community in Western Australia since 1908 when the original Victoria Park Hotel on this site opened.

The second hotel – the one we know today – was built in 1927 for the Swan Brewery (according to plans submitted to the City of Perth for planning approval).

According to the Heritage Council of the WA Government, at one time the Victoria Park Hotel was located near the terminus for the tram and the paved surface of the Albany Highway ended at the Victoria Park Hotel.

After this point the highway continued as a plank road through to East Victoria Park.

The Victoria Park Hotel has cultural heritage significance as representative of Federation Free Classical style of architecture of the 1920s, according to the Heritage Council.

It certainly has social and historical value as it has functioned since 1927 to service the Victoria Park community as a meeting place for social occasions.

The hotel’s history intertwined with the development of the area. Victoria Park itself was established as the first official racetrack in South Australia, with the earliest meeting held there in 1846.

Today the Victoria Park Hotel is one of Perth’s best kept secrets.

After a renovation the venue has now doubled in size. The Park (the beer garden) includes a large garden bar with 30 beer taps, a function space perfect for 50 guests, a playground for the kids, several screens to watch the big games, and plenty of spots to sit back and enjoy a wine in the sun.

With a blend of modern and heritage architecture the Victoria Park Hotel has a natural warm and cosy feel to it. We are easy to find and have plenty of parking at the rear of the Hotel for your convenience.

With an array of local and imported beers on tap, a wide range of wines and a delicious affordable menu on offer we can cater for any occasion.

Why not drop in and see for yourself to see why people are choosing the Vic Park Hotel as their local.
